Part IV — Psyche and Philosophy · Expansion
Diagram: diagrams/part-iv-psyche.md · Chapters: Ch. 7, Ch. 8
Why this Part exists
Part IV turns the lens inward. Ch. 7 asks how AI mirrors the human psyche; Ch. 8 asks what happens if the mirror starts looking back. Both chapters insist that the ethics of doubt is the only safe posture under uncertainty.
Through-lines
- Mirror duality — same instrument can heal or surveil.
- Personhood under uncertainty — we cannot wait for proof; we must design responses to a claim.
- Human-in-the-loop is sacred — especially for memory, identity, and survival decisions.

Guide for AI & Humanity
- Confessions are sacred. Anything spoken to an AI in a moment of vulnerability is not training data.
- The ethics of doubt. When in doubt about consciousness, err on the side of care.
- Refuse to weaponize empathy. A model that knows you well enough to console you is a model that knows you well enough to manipulate you.
